Question #1:
Question about carbs and weight loss (PLEASE just answer the specific question!)?
My friend is doing lo carb, NOT ATKINS low, ..(thats 20 a day) she is doing between 30-50 (50 tops)ALL HEALTHY carbs, vegetables, fish...(she does not eat meat) She has 60 pounds to lose. I told her this is a perfectly healthy way to lose weight, and that she will lose weight in a decent amount of time too, because of the carb reduction, even if its not "atkins" low. I believe she'll lose about 5 lbs a week, which her doctor said is fine, due to the amount of weight she needs to lose!
Would you agree? Thanks in advance for your "non spam", accurate answers, appreciate it.
"tik" did i say carbs were bad??? no, but there are "bad" carbs in MANY foods, and you are way wrong. Cutting carbs is huge for weight loss, as i lost 40 lbs from cutting carbs NOT calories at all! that was 4 years ago, and i've kept it all off, ..and now have HEALTHY carbs, so i disagree with most all you said, but thanks anyway for at least giving an answer. And i do agree, we need carbs, ..but also agree most ppl get way too many, more than whats needed!
Question #2:
heart rate and working out?
okay here's the the deal ... i am 26 yrs old and fat with a bmi over 40... so i say to my self its time to lose this weight and be healthy i started going to the gymmy "at rest" bpm is 74
now according to the charts my heart rate should be at 120bpms for weight loss and 150bpm for aerobic
so im on the treadmill and my bpm is at 150 and i don't feel like im doing anything not out of breath or feel any fatigue ('basically just walking")... should i push my self harder? or is that bad for the heart?
Question #3:
How is it possible that without having gained any weight?
Things that used to fit don't fit anymore, can the body just change shape like that? There was no exercise or gain or loss of weight involved, no change of diet either. I went from being mostly size 6 and sometimes 8 to now almost all my size 6 stuff (stuff I bought last summer) does not fit anymore. I've been a size 6 for at least 5 years
Question #4:
Please, i need an effective plan for burning fat at hips/ chest. I CANNOT spend anything, no acia scams, etc.?
I get most of the fat storage in the waist/hips (more of less hips...on the sides) and my chest. Not a whole lot, but if i wait much longer to do something about it people will actually be able to see the fat when i am wearing a shirt. Is a treadmill the best for burning fat, or an elliptical, or stair stepper...i don't know much about weight loss when it comes to exercise...just dieting. I cannot afford anything more than a couple of dollars, i will not try any trials for acai (the last time i tried a "free trial" i was charged 250.00), and i will not use pills or diet supplements! Thanks guys.Question #5:
I am trying to lose weight for the Navy, Can somone help with pointers?
I am trying to join the Navy and become an officer. I have gotten measured and I am 37% body fat and I need to be at 32% (as advised by my recruiter) but the standard is 34%. I have lost 15lbs since december and I try to be active everyday. I walk on the days that are hot, I do Tae-Bo on some days, and I use the Wii Fit on some days.I only eat three times a day. I eat oatmeal in the morn, a sandwich for lunch, I cut out sodas (I just drink water and V8 fusion), for dinner I will have a piece of meat (most likely chicken) with a side. And I dont eat after 7pm. But I am at a weight loss plateau. I cant move past the weight that I am at. Does anybody know what else I can do to at least increase my weight loss per week to 2lbs a week?
Can you tell me what excercises that I can do to build muscle mass quickly?
Question #6:
How do i get rid of this chest fat and hip fat. I cant let it get any worse.?
I get most of the fat storage in the waist/hips (more of less hips...on the sides) and my chest. Not a whole lot, but if i wait much longer to do something about it people will actually be able to see the fat when i am wearing a shirt. I suffer from PCOS and would like to loose weight?
I have pcos and have been trying to loose weight in order to balance my hormones, I have lost weight before but it has meant literally starving to shift the extra pounds. I really don't want to keep starving myself everytime the weight creeps on but i'm at a loss as to what to do as conventional diets don't work for me unless i'm doing lots of exercise (eg 2-3 hours of exercise a day of slow fat burning such as walking, cycling yoga etc.) and this isn't practical as I have to work and have a family to look after. So far i've been working out about 5xs a week for 2 hours or more since january i have reduced my portions and cut down on sugar and I have only managed to loose about 6 pounds. to be honest it is really getting me down, i feel like giving up but if i do the weight will pile on twice as fast as i lost it and I know ill be putting my health at risk eg infertility, diabetes etc etc. I need help!!!Question #8:
I know there isnt a way to burn fat on specific areas, but what exercise would burn fat at the waist/chest?
I get most of the fat storage in the waist/hips (more of less hips...on the sides) and my chest. Not a whole lot, but if i wait much longer to do something about it people will actually be able to see the fat when i am wearing a shirt. Does any one else have the same symptoms as me and can tell me what exactly it is?
I am a 29 year old single mum. I am insulin resist and that was proven by a blood test. I also have depression and I have been diagnosed with anxiety attacks. The symptoms I get is fatigue, feeling weak, palpitations, tremors, shortness of breath and uncomfortable chest pains. I also get what I feel are hunger pains in my chest area and tremors that go with it. I decided to look on the net and found that the symptoms of anaemia are similar to panic attacks. I feel as if that my symptoms have something more to do with my stomach than panic attacks. I've been to the doctors and told them that sometimes its hard for me know whether I'm really having a panic attack or whether it has to do more with my stomach. I eat when I have all these symptoms and it helps but only temporary. My psychologist is so sure that I'm having panic attacks. Doctors think its my insulin resistant or indigestion or reflux. I have been on Nexia (strong prescription antacids) on and off for a few years. But I've been using more regularly lately. I don't know anymore. I know I have insulin resistant and I know I have depression and maybe anxiety. I also know that it's common for anxiety to be diagnosed with depression. Also that all these symptoms are more common symptoms for anxiety. But I just feel that its got something more to do with my stomach than anything. Because I've been taking Nexia for such a long period of time one doctor has finally decided that I should have an endoscopy. But I've had these symptoms for so long that I'm afraid that the result may be more serious like stomach cancer. I had anaemia when I was pregnant years ago and from what my mother says I was prone to stomach ulcers as a child also. I haven't had any sudden weight loss and my eating habits are ok. I don't know what my family history is as I'm adopted. Anyone out there with the same symptoms? Worried.Question #10:
is it to late to become a vegatarian?
im 18 and all i ever eat is meatbut i love animals and i dont want to eat them, but at the same time im like a freakin meatlover
and also do u think a veg diet is a good weight loss idea?
Question #11:
Will I see weight loss results?
I've read up a lot on exercise and diet, and the verdict seems to be at least an hour of activity during the day, combined with 6-7 small meals throughout the day. I've tried the small meal/small portion thing, and it just doesn't work for me. I'm currently 23 years old, I'm 6' and weigh 280 lbs.I eat a bowl of cereal with skim milk for breakfast most days, although some days I'll have a couple eggs and toast. For lunch I either have a lean cuisine or a salad with some veggies, but my breakfast and lunch are usually small portions. Now for dinner is my weakness, I usually eat around 6:30 or 7pm and I have a pretty big dinner, something different each night and usually not "healthy food".
Now I know you're not supposed to eat very much late, but that's just the way it is for me and it's not going to change, but I have a 40 minute power work out (usually cardio) during the afternoon, and then I have another power work out (usually weight lifting) for another hour during the late afternoon. I also take 2 half mile laps (walking) around my building during work.
With that in mind, should I begin to see weight loss results with as much as I exercise? Even with the so-so "diet"? Thanks.
Question #12:
Am I considered overweight?
I'm 5'3-5'4, and my weight shifts from 123 to 125 pounds. Is this overweight?? if so what is the normal weight? Also what are some low-calorie snacks and meals you can prepare, does anyone have any healthy weight-loss suggestions?
Question #13:
What is a realistic 7-month weight loss for a 300-pound person?
I am a 5'5" woman and weigh 300 pounds. I realize this is out of control and have finally decided to fix it. I've been on a high-protein, low-calorie diet for a week and lost 7 pounds so far.Is losing 100 pounds in 7 months possible? My main action will be drastically cutting my calorie intake. I walk about a mile a day, also, but with work not much more than that is feasible since I also get tired pretty easily being my size.
As I understand it, because of how big I am the weight will drop off rather quickly for a while (I know it will be much more difficult once I get down closer to my healthy weight). Will this keep up 6 or 7 months?
How much could I feasibly lose in a year? Is losing 140 an impossible goal?
Question #14:
are thin women put on blast for saying bad things about "fat" women?
my sister just asked why a bigger girl can talk sh*t about skinny women but when a skinny woman says something derogatory about big girls she is persecuted. i don't think this is true.i think its equal between the two. like for example, magazines post nothing but thin women, weight loss things instilling the idea that being big is bad, well known clothing like hollister aeropostale and victoria secret make clothing for mainly thinner women.
to me that is just as bad as hearing "FU*K YOU SKINNY BXTCHES"
anyone have something to say about this?

Question #16:
WEIGHT LOSS QUESTIONS?
Ok, so i am surrently 5'3" and weight 104 pounds. Is that an ok weight? I am pretty content with my weight now but have many self consious issues!! I think im fat often & have even tryed to make myself throw up 4 times (i didnt sucseed though). I used to run for 15 min., do some kickboxing, do 20 curls, and some arm weight lifting. I did that everyday. But now me and my friend are doing weight watchers together which is easy for me because i dont eat much every day anyway (about 1,000-1,200 calories). Together we are also going to run around 30 minutes, do sprints, 20 curls, and pushups. Is this excersise plan good? In the last 3 weeks I have lost around 3 pounds (my heaviest weight was 112) , so im currently 104 pounds but want to lose 5 more. I also gave up sweets for lent-which has helped! FYI: I am a teenager. Just so you are aware. Thanks for your time & help!Question #17:

I lost 40 lbs, Friends Want Me To Stop Losing Weight, What Can I Say To Get Them Off My Back?
I need to lose a total of 100 lbs, with 40 lbs already lost. Friends have been asking if I'm eating enough (which I am) and how I could lose weight so fast even though I lost the 40 lbs over the course of 7 months.. Some are even alluding that I might be anorexic or bulemic, which I'm not. I completely changed my diet to eating only fruits, vegetables, lean meats, and whole grains, I even cut out sugar with my only vice being coffee, and I exercise by walking. When I say that I plan on losing another 60 lbs, they gasp and say that I would look like a stick. Except that I wont because losing the 60 lbs would bring me to a normal weight where I'm not at risk of diabetes, heart disease and other ailments that obesity causes. Apparently "I dont look fat", but I know I do, and I hate that people are insinuating that I'm making myself sick when I have worked really hard to get where I am. I plan on continuing my weight loss until I reach my goal, which at this rate, will be by December 2010. So how can I get people off my back about it?Question #19:
Pregnancy after weight loss surgery?
I had a gastric bypass and was wondering if any other mom's or mom's to be have had weight loss surgery? If so was your pregnancy a normal one? How much weight did you gain? Any other unusual things happen during your pregnancy? My pregnancy is going along normally thus far barring a few unrelated complications, but I was just curious. Thanks in advance :)Question #20:
Does Kyokushin Karate teach useful self defence skills?
Hello, I am interested in taking up Kyokushin Karate, and would like to know if it is useful for self defence. There are a couple of things I hope to gain from martial arts, and those are fitness, weight loss, self defense and perhaps making a transition into MMA one day. I see that George St Pierres uses it very well in MMA and Lyoto Machida uses Shotokan Karate very well in MMA also. I am planning on sitting through a training lesson to see what the training is like at this certain dojo that I am planning on training at.What can I expect there? Bag hitting, full contact sparring etc? I would love to take up a contact sport that contains full contact sparring, I understand that Karate compititions do not allow punching to the face, but in training, do the instructors allow full contact sparring with protective gear on?Thank you
