Weight-loss help and tips?

I'm 20, 5' 4" and 155 pounds. I want to lose 15-25 pounds. I've already lost a lot and seem to have plateaued. I run 3-5 miles a day, 5 days a week and weight training. What are some good ways to lose weight and raise my metabolism?

I'm not looking for a quick fix, just some tips to help me reach my goal. Thanks!

Alright, so long story short, I used to weigh 240 pounds, but now I weigh 186. (54 pound loss total) But I have been having a rough time. Everyone I know is freaking out because "OH MY GAWD YOU'RE LOSING WEIGHT TOO FAST YOU'RE GONNA DIE" but I'm not. I eat when I'm hungry and I watch what I eat. I (do my best) not to late-night binge. I was maintaning my body weight of 240 pounds on a 3900-4200 calorie per day average, and now I have drastically cut that down. I'm beginning to be happy with the way I look but you're not here to read my story. I have a few questions.

If it helps, I am 18 years old, 5'8", have a large frame and am single (lol). So here are my questions:

1. Does breakfast really help you stay satisfied throughout the day?
2. What is my healthy weight and BMI? (BMI used loosely, because you can't really get much off the internet because everyone's different)
3. Is rapid weight loss actually bad for you?
4. If I HAVE to eat something at night, what can I eat that is satisfying and won't cause me to weigh an extra pound the next day?
5. When will I feel satisfied with myself? I don't even feel like 54 pounds is an accomplishment
6. Can people with large frames get toned bodies? (Not a 6 pack, that isn't happening)
7. When I reach my target weight and start building muscle, I will put on weight because muscle weighs more than fat, but will I begin to look fat again or become more tone?
8. How can I be more confident in myself around girls?
9. I still feel like I'm really ugly, and when I look at myself in the mirror at home, I feel like I look pretty damn good, but out in public I fear my reflection
10. When should I cut carbohydrate intake during the day? (I hear it's usually 6 P.M.)
11. What are some high fiber / low calorie foods?
12. Should I eat smaller snacks thoughout the day instead of eating one meal? If so, what should these snacks be?
13. How can I ACTUALLY boost my metabolism (I don't need you to tell me that Hydroxycut and Tony Horton's Lean Mean Fat Burning Machine is going to make me lose 300 pounds in 15 minutes)
14. When does your body go in to starvation mode? (It's not the DAY you don't eat as much, my brother is a Firefighter/Paramedic and in his uneducated opinion, it takes months; other websites say that you have to get down to around 6 percent body fat in men before your body begins to freak out)

Thank you for reading and answering these if you have the time. I know they're extensive and I don't want you to waste too much time on this. But if you could just guide me in the right direction, I'd very much appreciate it.

And please, don't tell me that if I don't eat the magic number of "1200" calories per day, I'll start eating the paint off my walls.

Hi! I'm 5'5 and currently weigh 132 pounds and I am 16 years old. I absolutely despise my body. So much. My butt is really big, I have literally no boobs, my tummy poke out, and I have big thighs. It's not like I'm overweight, I know that. But I just really dislike my body, mainly in the butt and thigh area but also my stomach. I've been trying to lose weight for so long but can't seem to stay focused :( also I really suck at excersizing. Please help anyone! I decided at this moment in time is to foster or adopt a child and I manage to find one that I could adopt. The lady informed me that I may have a hard time feeding him fruits or vegetables so, what can I do that he can eat the proper fruits and vegetables to be healthy?

How to gain fat, not muscle, with whey protien. ?

I have a super difficult time gaining and keeping weight on due to hyperthyroidism. Normally, I would just take medication to level it out, but I am still nursing my four month old, which also adds to the weight loss. Lord knows I try to pack as much on me as I can, but it just doesn't keep. I'm healthy otherwise. No anemia or vitamin deiciency. I'm just too thin for my frame. I need to put some fat back on. I've been thinking about trying whey protien for the calories, sometimes with an infant I miss meal here or there. I don't know much about how it works though. Can you use it as a fat gain supplement? I don't work out at all. Period. I run after my little boy, but burning any unnessicary calories seems wasteful to me. I'll see my dr in a couple weeks for another thyroid check and I'll talk to him about it then, but until then, anyone hav any ideas?

Why do my fanily keep teasing me -_-?

I am really insecure about a lot of things .. I don't eat in public, I don't talk to anyone apart from family or close friends including on the phone, I don't go out without a coat on no matter what the weather .. I'm going on a massive (7 stone( 100 lbs )) weight loss this summer & my family DO NOT believe in me .. they just don't care .. no support at all they constantly make fun of me( about my height .. I'm 5"2 & my weight I'm 250 lbs ) ...........even if I tell them what they're saying is hurting my feelings ... My 6 week old niece needed feeding so I went down to as my sis which is her mum wasn't feeling good & my OLDER brother who's 30 pulled down my pj's .. I didn't even have underwear on so it was really embarrassing then they were making jokes about ny body :(

Why is it ok to tell people they are fat to their face? Does the world have no manners anymore?

I am very very overweight, but am on the path to fixing it. Two weeks ago I was 5'8 and 278lbs and a size 18. My doctor put me on metformin (an insulin regulating med) and phentermine (a weight loss aide), I have been eating between 1,200 and 1,400 calories a day, and working out a minimum of an hour a day. I have lost 10lbs in 2 weeks! So I'm on my way to being healthier.

Anyways, part of why I am overweight (I say part because I do assume responsibility for my own actions) is I have a metabolic syndrome, PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), insulin resistance, and rheumatoid arthritis. The first three conditions make it hard to lose weight because my hormones and metabolism are shot. The rheumatoid arthritis makes it hard to work out because my knee joints are always "on fire" and I've torn my meniscus 3 times (I am now on cortisone shots and pain killers).

Anyways you would think my family and friends would be somewhat understanding that my situation was difficult, that it made it harder for me to lose weight. Instead, these are some of the comments I've had said to me:

"Why are you making this so complicated? There's only one thing that causes people to be fat, it's being lazy and eating a lot. Fix that and you'll lose weight."

"Don't you have a hard time looking in the mirror? Doesn't it motivate change?"

"I miss you being skinny. You were skinny all the way til age 16 then it just piled on. You were so cute back then."

"You are lucky a guy married you being so big. Most guys don't like big girls."



Why do people think it's ok to say these things? Whatever happened to tact and manners? You can't comment on race, religion, economic status, or bad hair to someone's face but you can come out and insult their size? I don't get it.
I will be 100% honest, this is what my doctor told me. My conditions make it more difficult for me to lose weight than the average person, but its up to me if I want to do the hard work and get it done. So far I am. Looking in the mirror was motivator for me, but the horrible things my family said did nothing but hurt

How long will it take me to lose weight going vegan and running 2 miles a day?

I am not just going vegan for the weight loss. I have always wanted to start the vegan lifestyle way before I gained weight. So please do not say "A true vegan cares about an animal's life not weight loss." because I do care very much for them. Anyhow, I am a female at 4'11 ft and 130 pounds, but I am very muscular. So its not just all fat.My goal is to get back to my original size of around 100-110 pounds. Along with eating fruits and veggies, I am also going to consult my doctor so she can help me make sure I am getting all the nutrients I need with vitamins and protein shakes. I am also going to run two miles a night and I going to eat around 2000 calories. If you have any tips on how to lose the weight smarter (like cutting or adding calories) please include it in the answer. I really appreciate you all helping me! Thanks :)

What is the right type of body detox for me?

I have really been looking into these body detox formulas, but there are so many its hard to know which one to choose. I am trying to lose 35lbs I know with exercise and correct diet, but I have been not eating the best for the last few years. I took a test and I had 11 out of 16 symptoms of needing a detox lol. Its hard to know where to go, I am semi active, and looking to have my body start of on a clean slate or cleaner slate lol and to jump start my weight loss as well. Trying to loose 50 lbs.. How many calories should I eat a day?

I'm 5'2, 200lbs (ugh..so ashamed to even type that) and I'm trying to loose 50lbs. Now, I do very little to no exercise because of my schedule but I've been trying to eat right and consume no more than 1200 calories a day. I'm not sure if thats too little or just right. I've been trying to figure out how many calories I need a day to help with the weight loss but on limited activity. Can anyone help or have any suggestions.

I'm only 15 but think I have Lung Cancer?

Despite what a lot of you are likely to say, I know for a fact that even though I am only 15 years of age, it's still very possible for me to have developed Lung Cancer as I have contacted the NHS. I started smoking originally when around the age of 7 and continued to smoke for just over a year. I then quit smoking quite easily and have never touched another Cigarette until about 2 months ago where I first starting to smoke when I was out with my friends drinking, and recently it's kind of fixed with me again. I first started thinking something was wrong when my breathing gradually became more and more harder to do. The sensation feels like someone is pressing down on my Lungs, and I am unable to easily get air in and out of them without them feeling squished and unable to open, if that makes sense? I didn't think anything of it besides that it was possibly the start of a Chest cold or something along those lines. As time has gone on, it has gotten far worse, and it hurts my throat just to breath or take a gulp of air. I now can't take in a big breath of air without coughing my insides up! (figure of speech). I think the longest I have gone coughing so far is a whole hour non-stop, and I've never experienced something so painful. It was a constant coughing and every two minutes I would gag like I needed to be sick? Or made the sound anyway. I wasn't sick, but It sure felt like I wanted too, my body just didn't. I also have an incredibly fast metabolism so i'm am very underweight for my age, and weigh around 7 stone? But physically I am very skinny. I have continued to lose weight over time even though I was put on a diet by my doctor to eat a lot of different foods to help me gain weight healthfully, it hasn't worked, and i'm still losing. I have not experienced coughing up blood or anything drastic like that! But I have every other symptom! I sleep as soon as I come home from school, because otherwise I feel ill, and this is more recent. I will sleep from 3.45 to 9.00pm at the earliest. When I wake up I do not feel refreshed and feel as if I was never asleep. So I normally in this time, have dinner while I am awake and go back to sleep. This doesn't help my weight loss, but I can't help it, over time it's become something I need to do! Because I am so skinny, I do not exercise! And when I say I DO NOT exercise, trust me, I mean it. Besides walking from class room to class room at school, that's the only form of exercise I do. I used to do Swimming, Gymnastics, Horse Riding, Dance, Jazz, Modern, Drama, the lot! But I had to quit every single thing because it became too much work on my Lungs, and I couldn't cope. Especially with Swimming, it became a huge problem for me. You might say it's because I am unhealthy that I couldn't cope with these simple activities, but I have always eaten very healthy as my mum refuses too cook anything but balanced meals! Everyone in my family is right in weight, body, and so on. I have developed a lot of problems like skin conditions, so problems appearing has become a usual pattern for me. I have tried committing suicide on various occasions (NO I AM NOT TRYING TO GET SYMPATHY OR LECTURES) and I don't plan on doing it again. I just seriously need help. I've thankfully started to realize that letting people hate will only build my character, and school is just the rough patch, it will get better. If I can solve whats going on with my body I hope to be much happier! I have had this cough, for 4 weeks tomorrow, and my mum has been keeping record! She has arranged me an emergency appointment with my doctor, which I am yet to attend. I just want to know what to expect or am I making myself look like a complete idiot? I know I am young but it's still possible, despite being so uneducated on this, I have done my research!

I have stopped smoking, because it didn't help what I was experiencing and I felt very disgusting. As for mongral parents, my parents knew nothing about this as I was a tiny child who did think smoking was cool, and my friends grandmother would often supply my friends with Cigarettes so for me it seemed fun as no one in my family smoked! I was stupid and uneducated and even though I started smoking again recently I didn't particularly enjoy it, I just think I gave into peer pressure to easily. I wasn't saying this had anything to do with smoke related problems, I hardly smoke at all! I just was adding detail to get more accurate advice back.

I'm 127 lbs at almost 5'5." If I squeeze my stomach, no fat bunches up. I have muscular legs and I wear a 34A in bra sizes. My butt is pretty big, but I don't jiggle. I feel like I am very fat and I'm going to work on cardio for weight loss this summer. Am I fat?
